Registration for the 2022 Summer Reading program at the Everett Free Library has begun! Fill out one form for each child participating. If you would like to register for the adult summer reading program follow this link:

This year’s program will have in-person options. We will also have a limited number of take-home activities.

There are several ways for you to participate:
1. Read at home using the Beanstack app only to log reading time.
2. Read at home using a paper log only to record reading time.
3. Read at home using the Beanstack app to record reading time, and attend in-person programs. 
4. Read at home using the paper log to record reading time, and attend in-person programs

Reading will begin June 6th and continue until August 1st
The goal for this summer is 1,120 minutes = 8 weeks at 20 minutes a day.

Glamping Challenges:
Glamping is where stunning nature meets modern luxury. Join us at Tenley Park to design your own glamping creation. Members of the glamping community will be present to help give you ideas. A limited amount of supplies to create your glamping setup will be available so feel free to bring your own supplies! This program will be at 4 pm on Wednesday, July 13th. This program is suggested for teenagers and up.

Campfire Cooking with PSU Extension:
Join us for a campfire at Tenley Park on Wednesday, July 13 at 7 pm. PSU Extension will be present to demonstrate some campfire cooking techniques with samples at the end! Come join us for food, stories, socialization, and maybe a little singing.

Stream Exploration:
Come explore the wet world in streams and rivers! We will get wet while learning about aquatic life in streams. Wear clothes and shoes to get wet in and bring a towel and a change of clothes to go home in. This program will be held outside at the Sparks Farm owned by Juniata College in Tatesville (Hopewell Township). Bring water to drink and wear sunscreen. This program will be at 10 am on Thursday, July 14th. This program is for ages 8 and up.

Video Game Tournament:
Who doesn’t love to play video game? Come test your skill against other players in the community. The tournament will start at 4 pm on Thursday, July 14.

Plant Pressing:
Have you ever found pretty flowers or plants that you wanted to keep for all seasons? If so, you’re in luck! You can bring fresh flowers and plants from home (in water or in pots) or use some of ours. We will press some flowers and plants for you to take home to finish drying and have some pre-pressed to mount during the program. This program will take place at the Everett Free Library at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 20.

Survival skills:
Do you know how to stay dry outside during a rainstorm? How about how to find your way without your phone? Can you build a fire? This program will be held outside at the Sparks Farm owned by Juniata College in Tatesville (Hopewell Township). Bring water to drink and wear sunscreen. This program will be at 10 am on Thursday, July 21st.

Enjoy Healthy Eating on a Tight Budget:
This program will include information on meal planning and preparation, portion sizes, food safety, and smart shopping. Program dates will include every Thursday from August 4, 2022 to September 8, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at the Everett Free Library. There is no cost to attend.

Directions to get to the programs at the Sparks Farm from the Library:
Head West on E. Main Street
Turn right onto N. Spring Street/PA 26 N and go 2.9 miles.
Turn left to stay on PA 26 N and go 0.3 miles.
Turn right onto Plank Road and go 0.3 miles.
Make a slight right onto Ritchey Bridge Road and go 1.4 miles.
The dirt road to the Sparks Farm will be on the left about 0.1 miles after Brallier Station Road. The farm house and program location will be about 1.5 miles from Ritchey Bridge Road.
