The Everett Free Library has received materials from The Office of Commonwealth Libraries to start a series of Play K programs for children and their adults through the Cruise into Kindergarten program grant. The Play K curriculum allows children entering Kindergarten in the fall of 2017 to “play Kindergarten” using materials from 3 different “playscapes”. Children will practice going over a calendar, doing activities centered around a theme that are aligned with the PA Learning Standards and Kindergarten readiness skills like using scissors and taking turns. And there’s even a chance to meet the elementary principal and kindergarten teachers. Dates: July 11 (Theme: A Home for Me and a Home For You), July 18 (Theme; All Around the Town), and July 25 (Amazing Animals – Pets) from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
