Dear Community Member,

The Everett Area Better Business Association and New Ideas Committee are gearing up for the 2018
Christmas season. Over the last few years, we have noticed a steady decline in attendance and participation in our Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony. This year, in the hopes of attracting more of a crowd, the committee has planned a Christmas Street Event that will be held on Saturday, November 24th from 4-7 pm. This is also the evening of Love, Inc’s Live Nativity that takes place from 6 – 8:30 pm.
We will be closing Main Street between the traffic lights and will have Christmas-themed activities for all
ages. We will have a small stage on each end of town that will showcase different musical groups playing Christmas music and various other performers throughout the evening. There will be goodies provided by businesses throughout town; childrens’ activities; an ugly sweater contest; Santa’s arrival; and the event concluding with the community tree lighting and caroling. The Christmas tree once again donated by Brush Creek Evergreens will be lit in the old gazebo area next to the Union Hotel.
As always, opportunity for the community children to have pictures taken with Santa will be provided by
Tom Grance Photography at the Everett Free Library on Saturday, November 24th starting at 10 am until TBA and will also be available on the following Saturdays at the library from 10 am – noon (December 1st, 8th and 15th).
We are asking for your help to make this year’s event an extra special one. We are encouraging you to have your business open from 4-7 pm during the event. If your business is interested in having a promotional deal, door prizes or would like to participate in another way such as having an activity or handing something out, please contact me so I can include it in our advertising. We are also inviting businesses that are not located in town center to set up booths on the street or join in the fun in some way!
In addition to the events that will be happening event night, we are also adding a business decorating
contest. The contest will run from Saturday, November 24th through December 15th. The community will vote for their favorites and be entered into a drawing for a prize. The winning business will also receive a prize. If interested in entering your business, we ask that you donate a small prize to add to the voter prize basket and register by November 17. More details will follow!
To help with event expenses and add a special touch to the season, we will also be offering the opportunity to sponsor luminaries that will light up the event area and path across the bridge to Love INC. Each luminary sponsorship will be $5 and can be lit in honor or memory of a special person or business/organization.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! If you know of a group or individual who may be interested in this event, please pass along the information or have them contact me. Thank you for your consideration and help in making this Christmas event successful and for spreading the hometown holiday spirit!
Let’s work together to make this a special tradition shared each year with family and friends in our community!
